William Mulready (1786–1863) was an Irish-born painter known for his detailed and vividly colored genre paintings depicting rural and domestic life in early 19th-century Britain. He gained recognition for works such as The Wolf and the Lamb and The Sonnet, which showcased his mastery of composition and storytelling. Mulready was also involved in book illustration and designed the iconic Mulready stationery for the Penny Post. His work was influential in the development of Victorian narrative painting.
