Collection: Ford Madox Brown

Ford Madox Brown (1821–1893) was born in Calais and worked mainly in England — an associate of the Pre-Raphaelites, though never a full member of the Brotherhood. He was not an Irish painter, but the sitter in The Irish Girl (1860) was Irish: a young street seller in a red paisley shawl, a blue cornflower held to her chest.
