Sackville Street, Dublin
By Michael Angelo Hayes (1820–1877)
Step back in time to the bustling heart of 19th-century Dublin with this fine art print of Sackville Street, Dublin by renowned Irish artist Michael Angelo Hayes. Painted circa 1853, this evocative scene captures the energy and vibrancy of Dublin's main thoroughfare—now known as O'Connell Street—at a time when horse-drawn carriages, omnibuses, and pedestrians filled its wide expanse.
At the heart of the artwork stands the iconic Nelson's Pillar, a 40-metre-high monument that once dominated the Dublin skyline before its removal in 1966. Today, its place is taken by the Spire of Dublin.
