Abstract (c.1930) by Mainie Jellett – Irish Modernist Art Print
The painting that changed Irish art — and still feels modern today.
This Abstract by Mainie Jellett — a harmony of soft blues, blush pinks, and warm creams in her signature Cubist geometry — captures the essence of Irish Modernism at its most refined. Jellett painted these works after studying under Albert Gleizes in Paris, bringing a language of pure abstraction to Ireland that had never been seen here before.
It is quiet, confident, and completely original. Exactly the kind of Irish art that earns a permanent place on a wall.

About Mainie Jellett (1897–1944)
Mainie Jellett was Ireland's most important modernist painter. Born in Dublin, she trained at the Metropolitan School of Art before studying in London and Paris under Cubist masters André Lhote and Albert Gleizes. She returned to Ireland to champion abstract art at a time when it was deeply controversial — and changed Irish visual culture permanently. Her works are held by the National Gallery of Ireland and the Hugh Lane Gallery, Dublin.
