About the Artist

Harry Clarke (1889–1931) was Dublin-born and trained in the Arts and Crafts tradition under his father's watchful eye. He became Ireland's greatest illustrator, transforming literary visions into visual poetry through meticulous line work and luminous colour. Clarke's work bridged the ornate world of stained glass with the intimate intensity of book illustration, earning him international recognition before his early death at 41.
