About the Artist
Mainie Jellett (1897–1944) was Dublin-born and Paris-trained, studying under André Lhote and Albert Gleizes at the height of the Cubist movement. She returned to Ireland determined to push beyond traditional landscape painting, creating abstract compositions that scandalized conservative Dublin society. Her work bridged Europe's radical experiments and Irish artistic identity, making her one of the 20th century's most underrated modernists.
