Stone columns carry a pergola of beams hung with autumn vine leaves, and the sea glimmers beyond. It is a sketchbook page of about 12.5 × 17.3 cm from around 1891, in warm browns and blues. It is in the National Gallery of Ireland.
About the Artist
Nathaniel Hone the Younger (1831–1917), born in Dublin, spent years in France before returning to Ireland to paint its coast and skies. The National Gallery of Ireland holds a large group of his sketchbook pages. This work is in the collection of the National Gallery of Ireland.
