Samson and Goliath — the twin yellow cranes over the Lagan — have marked the Harland & Wolff shipyard skyline since the 1970s, decades after the yard's most famous ship, the Titanic, was actually built. They're not the cranes that built her, but they've become the symbol anyway: Belfast's industrial identity, reduced to two enormous, unmistakable shapes.
