A child leans over a rumpled bed with her dolls gathered round her; the title makes them her pupils. Osborne made this study in watercolour and pastel in 1900. The sheet measures 45.2 × 59.5 cm and is in the National Gallery of Ireland.
About the Artist
Walter Frederick Osborne (1859–1903), born in Dublin, was one of the most respected Irish painters of his generation. He died at just 44. This work is in the collection of the National Gallery of Ireland.
