That moment you remember standing at Powerscourt, water roaring, feeling smaller than small—now you can hold it.
Powerscourt Waterfall
Mainie Jellett captures the raw energy of Wicklow's most dramatic cascade in pure abstraction, where water becomes colour and movement becomes form. Painted in gouache, this work bridges her modernist vision with the landscape that defined her. Bring home the place that took your breath away.
About the Artist
Mainie Jellett (1897–1944) was Ireland's most influential modernist painter, trained in Paris and unafraid to break every rule. She translated Irish landscapes into bold, geometric abstractions that shouldn't work but somehow do. Her short life—cut short by illness at 46—left us with a small body of radical, unforgettable work. This waterfall study shows her at her most daring.
